Malaysian Company Seeks West Coast Customs Master Franchise for Asia
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (ContentDesk) February 14, 2006 -- Malaysian custom car experts Next Level Customz is hoping to finalise a master franchise deal for Asia with American giant West Coast Customs, the California-based company famous for its role in MTV reality show Pimp My Ride.Next Level Customz CEO Aaron Goh said West Coast representatives are due to arrive in Malaysia next month to tie up the agreement, which will require the Malaysian company to raise about RM10 million in order to fulfil its short-term business goals. This is a major development in which we will handle the franchising of the West Coast name brand to the whole of Asia, said Goh, who said his two-month-old company has found a strong niche in Malaysia. West Coast Customs is the worldwide leader in the industry. We will then go about trying to raise an initial RM10 million to start our expansion. Goh said his company turnover was about RM50,000 in January in only its second month of business.He said Sunway-based Next Level would initially seek to raise RM2 million to transform the company into West Coast Customs Asian headquarters with a further RM8 million needed to expand into Asia. We are hoping to leverage on the West Coast name to sell its custom products, activities and merchandising, said Goh.West Coast Customs is the industrys equivalent of the Xtreme sports pack. They are popular with the MTV crowd, who watched their mechanics turn dilapidated vehicles into souped-up mean machines in double quick time in Pimp My Ride.The show, however, will carry on without West Coast Customs. The company decided in December, 2005 to move on and produce its own television show.It wants to move away from over-the-top designs that featured on Pimp My Ride and concentrate on work that they do on a daily basis, such as the customisation of private jets, helicopters, tour buses and other high-end vehicles. Goh said his company is able to offer cheap prices because it reduces costs by ordering according to customers specifications.
